Where we work

Manchester's skyline is our workplace.

We fit out the ventilation in some of the city's best-known residential towers, including The Circle, The Blade, Elizabeth Towers and Greengate, and in towers right across the UK.

What we do

What we do.

We design, install and commission ventilation and air conditioning in new apartments, homes and commercial buildings across the UK.

Domestic

MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) and MEV (mechanical extract ventilation) systems in new-build apartments and homes, from first fix to handover.

Commercial

Galvanised ductwork, air handling units (AHU) and heat recovery units (HRU) for offices, schools, hospitals and amenity spaces.

Ductwork

Plastic flat channel, round and spiral duct, thermal duct, supports, dampers and grilles.

AC

Air conditioning systems for residential and commercial buildings, including ducted fan coil units (FCU).

Commissioning

Commissioning supply and extract ventilation, and AC temperatures, for full compliance with Building Regulations.

Why work with us

Good work, done properly.

You'll learn from an on-site trainer and work in a steady team. In your first year you can try both plastic and galv before you pick your trade.

On-site trainer from day one

A named trainer shows you the job and checks in on how you're getting on.

Try plastic and galv

Spend year one on both, then choose the trade you want.

Steady work on long projects

A tower takes us about 52 weeks to fit out, and there's always another one lined up. With over 1,000 projects completed across the UK, the work keeps coming.

Safety first

Every new starter gets a site induction before any work, and a trainer who looks out for them. In the last 3 years we've had just 2 minor accidents and no reportable accidents.

Who we are

AV Unibrak North Limited, 10 The Hillock, Harwood, Bolton BL2 3HP. Company number: 10884185. Registered office: 10 The Hillock, Bolton BL2 3HP.

We are the "data controller": we decide how your details are used. We don't have a Data Protection Officer. For any questions, email careers@av-unibrak.co.uk or call 01204 528811.

What we collect

  • Your name, phone, email and where you live.
  • Your answers on the application and the questionnaire.
  • Your CV, certificates, CSCS card and references.
  • If you request CSCS help: your date of birth, address, test and qualification details, and booking preferences.
  • Notes and scores from your interview and trial day.
  • Anything you tell us about a disability or help you need at the interview or trial day.
  • How you'd like us to contact you (email or WhatsApp) and the messages we send you.
  • Your login email and password, if you create an account. Passwords are stored securely.
  • Before you start: proof you can work in the UK.

Where we get it from

Mostly from you. Also from job boards or adverts you apply through (for example Indeed, Totaljobs or LinkedIn), from your referees, and from our staff who interview you or run your trial day.

Why we use it, and the legal reason

  • To consider your application and decide whether to offer you a job. Legal reason: taking steps, at your request, before a possible job contract.
  • To keep interview notes, questionnaire answers and scores, so our decisions are fair and we can explain them. Legal reason: our legitimate interest in hiring the right people fairly.
  • To check you can work in the UK. Legal reason: the law says we must.
  • To make changes for a disability or other need you tell us about. Legal reason: our duties as an employer under the Equality Act 2010. We only use this information for that.
  • To keep you in our talent pool and tell you about other jobs, and to message you on WhatsApp if you choose it. Legal reason: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • The equal opportunities form is optional and anonymous. It is kept apart from your application and never used to decide who gets a job.

How decisions are made

Our questionnaire gives scores and a short work-style summary to help the team. A person always looks at your whole application and makes the decision. No decision is made by a computer on its own.

Do you have to give us your details?

No, but without them we can't consider your application. If we offer you a job, you must show proof you can work in the UK before you start.

Who sees it

  • The AV recruitment team and the managers interviewing you.
  • Companies that run systems for us, only to provide their service and under contract: our website host (Lovable), our email provider (Microsoft 365), and Cloudflare, which provides the secure connection to our database. Your details and files are stored on our own server in our office in the UK.
  • WhatsApp (Meta), only if you choose WhatsApp messages.
  • The job board you applied through, which has its own privacy notice.
  • Your referees, only when we contact them: after we offer you a job, or earlier if you say we can.

We don't sell your details or share them for marketing.

Details sent outside the UK

Some providers (WhatsApp/Meta, and possibly our website host and Cloudflare) are based in, or may store data in, the USA. When this happens we rely on the UK's approved safeguards, such as the UK–US "data bridge" or the ICO's standard contract clauses. Ask us if you'd like details.

Keeping it safe

Only people who need your details can see them. Accounts are password-protected, our systems use secure (encrypted) connections, and your details are kept on our own server, with backups.

How long we keep it

  • If we don't offer you a job: we delete it 6 months after our decision.
  • If you join our talent pool: until you ask us to delete it, or 12 months, whichever comes first.
  • If you join AV: it moves to your staff record. We keep your right-to-work check while you work for us and for 2 years after you leave, as the Home Office requires.

Your rights

  • See a copy of your details.
  • Correct them if they're wrong.
  • Ask us to delete them.
  • Ask us to limit how we use them.
  • Object to how we use them, where we rely on our legitimate interests.
  • Get your details in a format you can take elsewhere, where you gave them to us and we use them because of a contract or your consent.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time (talent pool, WhatsApp). This doesn't affect what we did before.

To use any of these, email careers@av-unibrak.co.uk. It's free, and we reply within one month.
